LEGAL DISCLOSURE
The Friends of Libya Foundation has adopted a conflict of interest policy, here. For questions about this or other matters, please use our contact form.
The Friends of Libya Foundation will make good faith efforts to respect donor intent in the expenditure of funds. By law, however, the Board of Directors must retain ultimate authority and discretion to use contributions made to us in a manner consistent with our tax-exempt purposes.
The Friends of Libya Foundation, LLC, founded August 6, 2012, has filed an application with the IRS for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. It normally takes several months for the IRS to make a determination as to the tax-exempt status of any new organization. In the meantime, it is permissible for the organization to operate as a non-profit, and to collect tax-deductible contributions. However, if for some reason the IRS determines that our purpose is not exempt, those contributions would then not be tax-deductible.
